Rome’s Tours

Classical Rome

Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, St. Peters’ Basilica (with Papal Blessing on Sundays) and Piazza Navona.                   Every morning. Approx.  3 hours

An itinerary by coach and on foot to visit the classic monuments of Rome. Crossing Piazza della Repubblica which the Fountanin of the Nayads, our local guide with take you on a pleasant stroll through the historical centre, where you can admire the Trevi Fountain, La Colonna di Marco Aurelio, the Palazzo di Montecitorio, designed by Bernini, the Pantheon (visit inside), Palazzo Madama – seat of the Senate, and Piazza Navona. Passing along side Castel S. Angelo our coach will take you to the Basilica of St. Peters’*(visit inside excet when there are religious celebration) where you can admire one of Michelangelo’s magnificant work of art, “La Pietà”. Return to the vicinity of your hotel.

Imperial Rome

Piazza Venezia, Roman Forum, Colosseum, Circus Maximus. Basilica of St. Paul outside the Walls.                         Every afternoon. Approx.  3 hours

Arriving by coach at Piazza Venezia with its impressive monument dedicated to King Victor Emanuel II and the Unknown Soldier you then continue on the foot to the famous Piazza del Campidoglio designed bay Michelangelo from where you will have a fantastic view of the Roman Forum. Our coach will continue by the Circus Maximus and the Pyramidof Caius Cestius before arriving at the Basilica of St. Paul outside the walls* (visit inside). The tour will be completed with a stop outside the impossing Colosseum. Return to the vicinity of your hotel.

*N.B. : ENTRANCE TO CHURCHES REQUIRES APPROPRIATE ATTIRE (NO SHORTS, MINISKIRTS OR UNCOVERED SHOULDERS.

Vatican Museum

Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, Gallery of the tapestries

Every morning (except on Sundays and religious holidays) -  Approx.  3 hours

The tour begins by coach passing through Piazza della Repubbica with the Fountain of the Nayads and following the ancient Aurelian walls which once surrounded the ancient city. En route you will see the famous Villa Borghese park and the northern gate of the ancient city leading into Piazza del Popolo where you will see an Egyptian obelisk dating back to the time of Ramses II. Finally, on arrival at the Vatican Walls, your guide will than lead you into the Vatican Museum* taking the beautiful Spiral staircase and continuing through the Gallery of the Tapestries and the Gallery of the Geographical Maps before arriving in the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement by Michelangelo. Return to the vicinity of your hotel.

Christian Rome

The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and Saint John in Lateran, The ancient Appian Way and the Catacombs

Every afternoon (except Christmas, New Year and Easter). Approx.  3 hours

The first stop will be on the Esquiline Hill where our guide will show you some of the treasures inside the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, before continuing by coach to stop and see the Holy Staircase and the Lateran Palace before visiting inside the Basilica of San Giovanni*, the cathedral of Rome (visit inside). Then proceeding along the Ancient Appian Way, you will pass by the Chapel of “Domine Quo Vadis?” before arriving at the Catacombs the ancient underground cemeteries and first hiding places for the Christians. A visit will be made to either the Catacombs of S. Callisto, Santa Domitilla or San Sebastiano depending upon seasonal conditions. The tour will end with a spectacular view of the Bath of Emperor Caracalla. Return to the vicinity of your hotel.

Illuminated Rome TColosseum, ST. Peters, Trevi Fountain, Via Veneto, Piazza Navona

(Except Dec. 24th and 31st) – every evening.  Approx.  2 hours

Discover some of the main monuments of the Eternal City in the romantic atmosphere of times past. Some of the sights you pass by included the Fountani of the Nayads, the Exhibition Palace, Piazza Venezia with its Tomb to the Unknown Soldier and the Capitolin Hill. Glimpse the Imperiale Roman Age as you drive by and admire the Roman Forum the Colosseum, the Arch of Costantine and the Circus Maximus. Leap into the Papal era when, drinving along the banks o the Tiber, you see the Jewish Quarter complete with Synagogue and the imposing Castel Sant’Angelo closeby that heralds your approach to Sant Peter’s. Set in the ancitent Aurelian Walls that frame part of the Villa Borghese park, You ‘ll see a couple of the beautiful gateways in Rome: Porta Flaminia through which you can admire the Piazza del Popolo and Porta Pinciana through which you reach the famous Via Veneto symbol of La Dolce Vita in Rome. There will be to stops on this tour: at Piazza Navona to see Bernini’s beautiful Fountain of the Four Rivers and the Trevi Fountanin so that you can keep up the tradition of throwing coins into the fountain.  Return to the vicinity of your hotel.

Rome by night with dinner

Every evening  (except Dec. 24 and 31) – Sera – Approx.  3 hours

Panoramic tour of Rome + Dinner (drinks included)

After an interesting panoramic tour of the city, which will also include a stop at the Trevi Fountain, your guide will escort you to a typical roman restaurant for a dinner (drinks included). After dinner return to the vicinity of your hotel.

Roman Castles

Thuesday and Sutarday and afternoon from 1st April to 31st October. – Approx.  3-4 hours

An opportunity to leave the metropolis and immerse yourself in the natural and artistic beauty of the small medieval villages outside Rome. Leaving Rome we drive by the ruins of the Bath of Caracalla and onto the ancient Appian Way by the Chapel of Domine Quo Vadis?. This tour takes us along the Road of the lakes through one of the hill areas of Volcanic origin that characterize the outskirts of Rome; the Colli Albani with its many growing villages. Castelgandolfo on the shores of a Volcanic lake, where the Pope has his summer residence, Rocca di Papa and Grottaferrata know for their culture, sight and gastronomic delicacies which included the traditional “porchetta”. Towards the northerly part of the Colli Albani, we reach Frascati popular with visitors both of for its beauty and considerable wine production. Here we stop for a taste of local wine and to absorb the flavour of village life. Return to the vicinity of your hotel.

Tivoli Villa Adriana, Villa D’Este and its Fountains

From 1st March to 30th Sept everyday except working Monday -  afternoon

From 1st October to 15th November  everyday except working Monday – morning

From 16th November to 28th February  – Tue, Thur, Sat and Sun. – morning                                              Approx.  4 hours

Following the ancient via Tiburtina for 30 kms. East of Rome, this tour allows you to visit and compare two very splendid villas for two different ages. The Villa Adfriana dating back to Roman times and the Villa D’Este for the renaissance period. At the foot of the Tiburtini hills, source of the springs that supply the spa town of Bagni di Tivoli and which are dominated by vast quarries of travertine marble, you will stop first to visit the ruins of Villa Adriana which can only hint at the grandeur and beauty of this Villa build by Emperor Hadrian to remind him of the monuments and sites he had admired during his travels in the East. We then continue to the Villa D’Este on the of the most beautiful residences of the Renaissance. the Villa’s countless fountains, set in the heart of magnificent Italian style gardens, create a delightfully graceful symphony of carved stone, shade, sunlight and water. Return to the vicinity of your hotel.
